Review System for Medical Research

Review System for Medical Research 

The research review system for medical research at the Faculty of Medicine and Graduate School of Medicine consists of four committees established on the basis of government guidelines and other resources. Additionally, the Institutional Review Board has been established at the University of Tokyo Hospital’s Clinical Research Support Center.

Functions

The committees have two functions, which apply to the activities of the Faculty of Medicine and Graduate School of Medicine of the University of Tokyo and the University of Tokyo Hospital.

  • 1) The committees examine and monitor protocols for research involving human subjects and publication of research findings.
  • 2) The committees study and deliberate on how medical ethics should be approached and handled, as necessary.
